As data and analytics become an increasingly large part of life for an endurance athlete, and as the amount of data grows with every workout we complete, the management of all that data becomes more and more challenging. To meet that challenge, TrainingPeaks WKO offers a powerful analytical dashboard system to make key information easily available and accessible.
An analytical dashboard is a reporting tool used to review a large amount of data, investigate trends, predict outcomes, and discover insights, allowing us to accurately evaluate the effectiveness of our training. A dashboard is a collection of charts and reports typically focused on a particular process. In endurance sports, our processes are often compartmentalized by key functions or areas of tracking. For example, a dashboard designed to review training load would include charts and reports that give us deeper insights into training load history, current status, training load content, and much more. When compiled on a single dashboard, these charts and reports work together to present a robust, comprehensive view of the data we’re focused on.
Training and performance analysis is a complex thing, often requiring more than one compartmentalization of data. In other words, it takes more than one dashboard. In fact, the possible combinations of data, charts, and reports are endless. This creates a complex challenge for data management. TrainingPeaks WKO5’s solution to this challenge is views.
What is a View?
The structure of data management in WKO5 is simple. At the front are charts and reports that supply information. These charts and reports are built into dashboards, which bundle (compartmentalize) the charts to supply a broader view of analytics. We often create numerous dashboards for different types of data; for example, we might want a dashboard on training load, one on peak performances, and one on left/right pedaling information. WKO5 supplies many pre-built dashboards and offers unlimited ability to create custom dashboards based on your own processes and needs.
With the expansive ability to build so many different dashboards for the many different types of data we create and collect, we need an easier way to manage all these dashboards and data without getting lost in the sheer volume of them all. Enter WKO5 views.
Just like a dashboard is a collection of specific charts and reports, a view is a collection of specific dashboards. Views can be built around sport types, training data types, event types, and so much more.
