Over the last few years, there’s been a virtual explosion in indoor training. As athletes use new and exciting formats for indoor training, it creates a definitive separation in the data from indoor and outdoor workouts, requiring more clarity and specificity in training analysis. To meet this need, WKO5 now offers an “Indoor Bike” sport subtype and an indoor FTP (functional threshold power).
How to Use the Indoor Workout Sport Type in WKO5
When you complete indoor training with third-party software (like Zwift, for example) or set your head unit to indoor mode, the workout file is internally tagged in such a way that WKO can automatically identify the workout as an indoor workout. If your third-party application does not produce workout files that are automatically recognized as indoor workouts, it’s simple to change the workout sport type to indoor; click the Edit tab on this page
for instructions or view the video tutorial below.
Our goal is to give you the ability to specifically and accurately target your indoor training power-duration curve to improve your training. We also want to equip you to enhance your indoor training analysis to better evaluate the effectiveness of that training.
What About Indoor FTP?
WKO5 gives you the ability to set a specific FTP for your indoor workouts to help ensure accurate metrics (like TSS, for example). Some users have an identical FTP for indoor and outdoor training, while others have significantly different FTPs. Either way, WKO will accurately track your training.
